Eden’s coastline and marine environment provide for a full range of aquatic activities centred around the famous Twofold Bay, the numerous beautiful local beaches and the ocean. These include harbour cruises, scuba diving, boating, yachting, canoeing/kayaking, snorkeling, surfing, wave surfing, swimming and fishing of all kinds – from bay to surf to reef and beyond into deeper game fishing waters. And if you can’t catch it yourself then there is also a great range of restaurants featuring the fresh local seafood.
whale watching
Whale watching is also very popular in season (September – November). A range of charters are available to see the Humpbacks heading south in spring – when they come very close to the shore and make Eden a great place for whale watching.
Other species regularly sighted include Southern Rights and the Orca – or killer whale – for which Eden is well known. The Eden Killer Whale Museum documents the history of the Eden whaling industry and its special relationship with the local killer whales.
national parks
The Ben Boyd National Park at Eden features striking coastal scenery, sandy beaches, rocky bays and historic lighthouses.
The forests surrounding Eden offer some fantastic bush walking opportunities – as well as picnics, drives and bike riding.
Eden has golf and tennis facilities – and scenic tours by helicopter are also available.
